DOLLY PARTON'S IMAGINATION LIBRARY

The Club is a Local Affiliate/Partner of the program and works to enroll children within the area, as well as promote the program through area events.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family’s income.

Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write Dolly started her Imagination Library in 1995 for the children within her home county. Today, her program spans five countries and gifts over 2 million free books each month to children around the world.

NEW TEACHERS' DINNER

Each year, just before the school year commences, the Club, in conjunction with another local organization, coordinates and co-sponsors a dinner to welcome new educators and administrators to the community. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet new faces, inform them of Rotary's close relationship to the public school system and invite them to learn more about the service-oriented opportunities in their new community!

In 2023, more than 90 individuals attended the Friday evening cookout!

THE DICTIONARY PROJECT

Each year, dictionaries are given to third-graders at every elementary school in Louisa County. Rotarian Judy Seaton, says, "We know that the third grade is a pivotal year in education since it's when most students start learning about research and searching for answers to questions. The reference books provide children with a tool they can use at their own discretion. They can use it at home or in the classroom." To date, nearly 4,000 dictionaries have been distributed through this program.

CHILDREN'S BOOK DONATIONS

Each time a speaker or special guest visits the Club to present on a selected subject, a children's or youth-appropriate book is selected by the Club for donation to the Louisa County Public Library. A label is affixed to the interior front cover to note the speaker/guest, date, and Club.

To date, over 250 books have been contributed through this program.
